Donald A. Klingman, 73, of Eau Claire passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 at his home.

Don was born April 23, 1943 in Menomonie, WI the son of Arthur and Lelia (Butler) Klingman. Don married Susan Retz on October 1, 1966. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was an avid Packers fan and reader, especially books about Lincoln, the Civil War, and WWII. His biggest joy was baking with his granddaughters and walking his dogs.

Don is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Kari (Rich) Swedberg; granddaughters, Elsie and Alma Swedberg; foster daughter, Lisa (Polly) Jones Dake; brother, David (Carla) Klingman; brother-in-law, Franklin (Julie) Retz; sister-in-laws, Gloria (Rick) Lake, Kathryn (Ted) Seeger, and Carla (Dennis) Miller; co-grandparents, Dudley and June Swedberg; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Ginger.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lelia; sisters, Evelyn, Mildred, Jessie, Shirley, and Ardith; brothers, Jacob, John, and Richard; and dogs, Ginger, Pooh, Bailey, and Shiloh.

Memorials in Don’s name may be made to the Civil War Trust (www.civilwar.org) 1140 Professional Court, Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Memorial services will be Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 10:00 am at Smith Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

  4. So sorry at the loss of your friend Dud! As we get older these notices increase, but they still sting! ALL WET HERE IN OREGON! It never seems to stop raining! I HOPE-PLAN to be in St Johns, CarrAbean, by next winter.
