Jean Ann Nielsen, 68, formerly of Fall Creek, passed away on Friday December 31, 2021, under Mayo Hospice, at Dove West, in Eau Claire. Jean was born to Edward and Joyce (Sommerfeldt) Nielsen on June 10, 1953. Jean graduated from Fall Creek High School with Honors, where she played in band, was Prom and Homecoming Queen.

Jean very much adored her black poodle, Cherie, and cat Sal Sue. She loved to socialize with friends and family. She enjoyed traveling out west, loved fashion magazines, word search puzzles, and always had a new purse. She always looked forward to her Saturday coffee group.

Jean is survived by her brother Thomas (Joanne) Nielsen of Phillips, WI; Nieces, Melinda Nielsen, Ashley (Don) Beck, Leanne (J.B.) Grangaard, and Lindsey (Joshua) Krueger; many cousins and great-nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Joyce Nielsen, and aunts and uncles.

A Celebration of Life and Burial will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Tom and Joanne.

  1. We sure remember the day that Jean was in that car accident that changed her life forever. Her mother cared for her for many years and and she is now at peace with her parents. Our condolences to you Tom and Joanne for all the years that your sister was in the hands of a caregiver that you as kin seen her needs to live a different life and still be herself. 2. Jean was a sweet child who grew into a genuinely nice, caring, and intelligent young adult. We attended Fall Creek Schools together from first grade through our graduation in 1971. (I remember so well her blonde braids and hair ribbons in elementary school!) She was always well liked and respected as a classmate and friend who preferred kindness over the “drama” of adolescence life. Jean was a person you could count on. We shared enjoyment of the saxophone in band and cheering for our “Crickets.” When it came to choosing a “queen” for our class celebrations, Jean was an easy pick. She was lovely in that role, too. Jean was blessed with a loving family who saw her through the tragic detour of her life. May God bless her and her family.
