John F. Des Forge, 69, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems – Hospital in Eau Claire.

John was born on December 15, 1946 in Eau Claire to Kenneth and Jacquenline (LeGore) Des Forge.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Barb (Bain) Des Forge, son Michael (Amy) Des Forge, brother Jim (Connie) Des Forge, bother Steve (Linda) Des Forge, sister Mary Buchholz, and sister-in-law Rita Des Forge.

John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Des Forge, and brother Larry Des Forge.

For about 15 years, John and his wife owned a mom and pop shop, the Ninth Ward Bakery. John later went back to school for computer programming and since that time found great joy in watching technology advance. John and his wife gave back to the community by opening their home to over 60 foster children. John was a beloved husband, great father, and loyal friend to many. He enjoyed a good cribbage game, especially at Heinie’s Barber Shop in Eau Claire. A great conversationalist, John was known for his humor, practical jokes, and political conversations. His hobbies included wood-working, listening to Moose country, taking Sunday drives, dining out, and listening to Paul Harvey. John was loved by family and many friends—his stories, jokes, and advice will be greatly missed.
