Lawrence Stygar

Lawrence “Larry” W. Stygar, 73 of Eau Claire passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Syverson Lutheran Home with his family by his side.

Larry was born on February 18, 1942 to Laurentz and Viola (Barton) Stygar in Eau Claire. Larry graduated from Memorial High School in 1960. He joined the Air Force in 1960 after he graduated high school, and served until 1964. He married his wife Patricia Koutny on August 21, 1965 in Eau Claire at Grace Lutheran. Together they had one daughter, Ann Marie Stygar. He enjoyed fishing and working on his computer.

Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia Stygar of Eau Claire; one daughter, Ann Stygar of Eau Claire; and cousins, nephews, and other relatives.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Barb Karnes of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; aunt and uncle, Pearl and Einar Scott; uncle, Arthur Blas; and other relatives.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nursing staff at Syverson Lutheran Home and Mayo Home, Health, and Hospice for their excellent care of Larry.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel and one hour before the services on Friday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery following the services on Friday.

  1. Condolences to the family of Lawrence “Larry” Stygar. Larry and I used to share fishing stories of which he had many. Poker was also an enjoyable time on Friday nights. We were high school classmates.
