LeRoy E. Dickerson, 90 of Eau Claire passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Our House Memory Care in Eau Claire.

Roy was born on June 3, 1927 to John and Charline (Smith) Dickerson in Eau Claire.  He attended St. Patrick’s High School.  In June of 1944, Roy joined the Merchant Marines and after serving over two years was honorably discharged. He married Leone Erickson on November 19, 1949 at St. Patrick’s Church in Eau Claire.  Throughout their 67 years of marriage, they lived in the Eau Claire area creating countless friendships.  Roy worked at Uniroyal for over 40 years.  Roy and his wife were fortunate to travel to many parts of the world including China, Russia, Norway, Ireland, and many countries in South America, just to name a few. As much as they enjoyed traveling, they also spent many summers at their cabin in Holcombe.  Roy enjoyed watching youth, high school, and college sports, especially his grandchildren’s events.  He was dedicated to his family and was devoted to his loving wife. 

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Leone Dickerson of Eau Claire; children, Deborah (Bill) Adler of Rochester, MN, Thomas (Suzanne) Dickerson of Augusta, and Louise (Larry) Urness of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Carrie (Richard) Tibor of Rochester, MN, Dan (Jolene) Dickerson of Chippewa Falls, WI, Vanessa (Jon) Strosahl of Eau Claire, Aleisha (Mark) Lutzen of Eau Claire, and Krystal (Christopher) Flores of Baraboo, WI; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Braden, Preston, Lydia, Kyra, Korben, and Revan; brother, Tim Dickerson of Eau Claire; and many other relatives.

LeRoy was preceded in death by grandson, David Adler; sister, Jean (Gale) Brantner; and sister-in-law, Arlene Dickerson. 

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and the staff at Our House for their compassionate care.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 12:00 pm at St. James The Greater Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Krieg officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery with VFW Post 305 preforming military honors.  Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.smithfuneralec.com.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know that Roy and my father Paul Spallees were cousins as well as good friends. I remember when my dad died, Roy told me he was really going to miss Paul. Hopefully they are reunited in heaven!
