Millard O. Sivertson, 89, of Elk Mound passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his home where he was surrounded by his family. He was born October 30th, 1928 to Selmer and Cecilia (Wagnild) Sivertson. He attended Fosbrook Country school in WI and Underwood Elementary school in MN, graduating in 1946 from Aggie High School in Menomonie, WI.

Millard farmed the home farm for 42 years, starting at age 17, as his father had Parkinson’s disease. He married Shirley Johnson on October 16th, 1954 and they raised 8 children. After Shirley’s death in 1997, he married Jean (Brenden) Rasmussen on December 26th, 1998.

In addition to farming, he served as clerk for Fosbrook and Elk Mound schools, council for Springbrook Lutheran and Shepherd of the Hill churches and was a proud member of the Sons of Norway (Loven Lodge). He enjoyed his travels to Norway, Israel, Switzerland, Africa and 46 of the 50 US states.

Millard always stressed the importance of family and was the greatest story teller.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; 8 children: Dan (Susan) Sivertson of Elk Mound; Timothy (Tamra) Sivertson of Elk Mound; Robyn Sivertson of Altoona; Christine (Jeff) Gutsch of Eau Claire; Barbara Sivertson of Little Rock AR; Amy (Jeff) Rye of Eau Claire; Joel (Connie) Sivertson of Evans GA; Corey (Tammy) Sivertson of Weston, WI: 3 stepchildren: Susan (Fride) Thorsen of Norway; Sharon (Nadine) Rasmussen of Oregon; Daniel (Andreas) Brenna of Germany, brother, Sidney (Verna) Sivertson of Sioux Falls ND; 21 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; sister, Grace Brenden and stepson, Peter Rasmussen.

Funeral services will be held at Spirit Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on Saturday, March 10th at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Ahlquist officiating. Visitations will be Friday, March 9th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Smith Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, Millard requested donations be given to the family in the name of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Luther Park Bible Camp or Spirit Lutheran Church. Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.smithfuneralec.com.

The family expresses deep appreciation to Drs.Jacoby and Naqvi and MCHS Hospice.
We mourn his passing from this life to life eternal; yet we also rejoice in the truth that he now “rests from his labors” and that we who believe in Christ will one day see him again.
