Richard S.Torpen, 65 of Osseo passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home.

Richard was born on November 8, 1951 to Oscar and Lillian (Windjue) Torpen in Wisconsin.  He graduated in 1969 from Osseo High School.  He married Leona Gjestvang on April 10, 1976 at Pleasantville Lutheran Church in Pleasantville, Wisconsin.  After high school, Richard began farming with Tommy Hammer until 1978 when he moved onto the Ihle farm.  Richard and his wife worked and lived on the Ihle farm for almost 40 years.  Richard resided in Trempealeau County his entire life.  He was an avid Packer fan.  Richard loved to snowmobile and ride motorcycles.  He was a kind and generous man who loved his family and he will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife, Leona Torpen of Osseo; sons, Nathan Torpen of Osseo, Matthew (Niki) Torpen of Osseo, and Kendall (Hillary) Torpen Lake Nebagamon, WI; four grandchildren, Alyssa, Shelby, Dylan, and Odin; and siblings, Karen Thomley of Osseo, Kenny (Flicka) Torpen of Strum, WI, Ruth (Earl) Nelson of Osseo, and Ann (Donny) Shoemaker of Osseo.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Miriam Torpen; and brother-in-laws, Sonny Thomley and Loren Thomley.

A Celebration of Life will be Friday, November 10, 2017 at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm with Rev. Terry Lorenz officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.  Burial will be at a later date.  Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.smithfuneralec.com.

  4. I was sad to hear of Rick’s passing. I stopped at their farm for years and was always welcomed as a friend, a cup of coffee and something AWESOME that Leona had just baked. Remember u have a lot of great memories, I do. Dean johnson
