Ronald Lawrence, 78 of Eau Claire passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Dove Healthcare – West.

Ron was born to Lyman and Gladys (Anderson) Lawrence on May 31, 1940 in Eau Claire. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1958. Ron was united in marriage to Sonja Olson on August 6, 1960 in Strum. He worked at the Farmers Store and at Randall’s Grocery Store in Eau Claire as a meat cutter for 45 years. Ron loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and socializing with everyone at Dove.

Ron is survived by his wife Sonja Lawrence; sons: Richard “Rick” Lawrence and Roger “Rocky” (Cheryl) Lawrence; grandchildren: Andrew, Benjamin, and Mary; great-grandson Ryan Lawrence; brother David (Betty) Lawrence; brothers-in-law: Dale (Sharon) Olson, Thomas Olson, and Larry LaPage; sister-in-law Elizabeth Olson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, sister Janice LaPage, and brother-in-law Dennis Olson.

Ron’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Dove Healthcare – West.

A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 6:00pm. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until time of service. Family and friends may leave online condolences at www.smithfuneralec.com.

  1. I was so sorry to hear about Ron’s passing. He was such a wonderful man. I spent many hours talking with him, getting him coffee (two creams and extra hot) and warm blanket while he was on the third floor. He loved his family very much and was always proud to share stories about them. My thoughts and prayer are with all that loved him!
