Shirley Marie Scheidecker, 88, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire.

Shirley was born to Asa and Mary Snyder on July 26, 1930 in Dunn County. Shirley married Richard Scheidecker on December 10, 1949 in Wheeler, Wisconsin.
Shirley enjoyed being with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved sharing her baking skills with them; gingersnaps, “flower” cookies and pancakes were among their favorites. Neighbors and friends were always welcome to stop by for coffee and cookies. Her homemade pies were often the high-seller at benefit auctions.

Highlights of her life also included showing POA ponies nationally, watching birds from her dining room window and fishing. Fishing trips to Canada and Alaska were among her favorite memories. Shirley’s love for horses started with a little mare called TW Firefly, a world champion who went on to produce champion futurity colts. Shirley enjoyed watching as her grandkids continued to show her ponies.  Shirley loved working on the home farm with her father. She often told stories about riding the work horses as her father plowed in the fields. After she was married, they continued to farm in the Colfax area.

Shirley was employed throughout the years as a cook in the Eau Claire School District, Burton’s Card and Gift Shop, and delivered the daily St. Paul Dispatch paper.

Shirley is survived by her children, Peggy Freitag, Sue Kohlhepp (Chuck), and foster son, Bill Pinsonneault (Jean). She has three grandchildren: Kori Coffeen (Lorne), Michael Freitag, and Troy Koser (Amber). Great Grandchildren: McKenna and Coltin Coffeen, Reegan and Blakely Koser. Sisters: June Bartilson and Donna Flatland.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, and sisters Jan Dahl and Melva Mickelson.

Mom’s kindness and love will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at Truax Congregation UCC on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor David Stratton officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will follow services at McCombs Cemetery, Town of Wheaton.
