Terry M. Melland, 67 of Minong passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.
Terry was born to Emil and Iris (Zimmerman) Melland on August 15, 1951 in Eau Claire. Terry was united in marriage to Julie Schmidt on September 18, 1971. He enjoyed his career as a Plumbing and Heating salesman. Terry liked meeting new people and the challenge of getting a new customer. Terry made many new friends on the road, one of whom became a lifelong friend who he referred to as his ‘good buddy Jay.’ After retirement, he moved to “The House in the Woods” in Minong in 2007. He vacationed in the area as a child and was at home up north. Terry enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, four wheeling, hunting, and having friends and family up to visit. Terry’s most special times were the summer vacation time with the grandchildren and the Green Bay Packers! We will miss all Terry’s special stories and productions.
“You left me beautiful memories your love is still my guide, and though we cannot see you, you’re always at my side.”
Terry is survived by his wife of 47 years Julie Melland; son Shawn (Kathleen) Melland; daughter Wendy (Kevin) Wolfe; grandchildren: Laura, Roger, and Teddy Melland, MaKenna Dawson, Ashlea, Kayla, and Jacob Wolfe; great-granddaughters: Anabelle and Amberlynn Lloyd; sisters Vicki (Dean) Baures and Sherry (Larry) LaGesse; and lifelong friend John Swenson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Iris Melland.

  9. Our condolences to your family on Terry’s passing and to Terry’s two beautiful sisters, Sherry and Vicki. I remember the family very well as a young boy growing up in the house next door to the Melland family. Terry was a great guy and was always kind to the kids that were younger in the neighborhood. He was quick to smile and if he had a few minutes, he would grab his football and we would play catch. I also have memories of the motorcycle Terry had at the time. I always knew when he was leaving the house going to work or school as Terry would really get the motorcycle “wound up” when he left the house! Great memories from many years ago and know that we will see Terry again in a much better place …and maybe play some catch with the football again. I look forward to it!
