William “Bill” R. Jahr, 80, of Eau Claire passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 peacefully at his home; under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.

Bill was born January 12, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Edward and Marie (Mueller) Jahr. Bill was raised from birth by his Maternal Aunt and Uncle, Norman and Ida Granger.  Bill went to Wilson High School in St. Paul, Minnesota. He worked for many years in Quality Assurance in the Computer Industry. He spent his retirement working at various local small businesses around the Chippewa Valley; including his good friend Ron “Ronnie” Mahder.

 Bill is survived by his Wife, Darlene Jahr of Eau Claire. Sisters: Shirley and Jeanette. Children: Pamela (Doug), Sherill (Thomas), Richard (Kris) and Brad (Teresa). Grandchildren: Joseph, Rochelle “Shelly” (Timothy), Nickolas (Addy Jo), Joshua, Natalie, Zander and Tirsa. Great Granddaughter Ren “Squeaker” (Shelly and Timothy) and numerous Nieces, Nephews, surrogate Children and Grandchildren he had picked up along the way.

Bill was preceded in death by Norman and Ida Granger, Edward and Marie Jahr, and numerous Brother and Sister-in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s name to Feed My People and the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic. The Jahr family would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the St. Joseph’s Hospice Care Workers.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 12:00pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Christine Emerson officiating. Visitation will begin 2 hours prior (10:00am) at the Church.

  1. Darlene, I wanted to come to Bill’s visitation to see you but I have other obligations that day. Remember in this time of grief that friends and family surround you with thoughts and prayers. I remember working with you and enjoying that time and occasionally seeing you and Bill around after you retired. If I can be of help to you in any way let me know.
