Obituary For Catherine Lynn Irvin

Catherine Lynn Irvin, 62, of Chetek, Wisconsin, passed away on August 28, 2025.

Catherine was born on March 4, 1963, in Chicago, the daughter of James Irvin and Judy Cantrell. Catherine was a devoted child of God who cherished every opportunity to learn about Him and worship. A woman of deep faith, she believed strongly in the power of prayer. She had a love like no other for her children and grandchildren, and anyone who spoke with her soon learned all their names and birthdays-something she proudly shared with joy and gratitude.

In her free time, Catherine loved playing Yahtzee, card games, and working on crossword puzzles. She enjoyed game shows, music, and dancing. Her pure spirit is shone through even in her choice of words-often saying “shucks” or “sheesh” instead of anything unkind. She always looked for the good in people and carried a warmth that touched everyone around her.

Her children will forever hold dear the memories of her singing “You Are My Sunshine,” chasing them with her playful “I’ll get you, my little pretty!” in her best Wicked Witch of the West voice, and joyfully belting out songs from Grease with her ear pressed close to the television.

Catherine is survived by her beloved children, Kevin Whitten and his children, Kara and Jayden, Richard Irvin and his daughter, Laney, Branden (Britney) Irvin and their children, Breanna, Cassidy, Sierra, Milo, Kiley, Mia, Kane, Aubree, and a baby girl due in October, and Angela (Antonio) Stanisz and their children, Savannah, Anthony, and Rhys. She is also survived by her brothers, Phillip (Lisa) Dunn and their children, Phillip, Brandon, and Katelynn, and her brother, Brian Edwards.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Judy Cantrell and James Irvin; her brother, Toby Irvin; and her aunt, Linda.

A service to honor Catherines life will be held at World Harvest Church in Rice Lake, Wisconsin on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:00 am. Catherine will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her pure heart, and the endless love she gave to her family.
