Howard D. Johnson, 87 of Eau Claire passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Care Partners in Altoona.
Howard was born on September 12, 1929 to Roy and Josephine (Tarbox) Johnson in Fairchild, Wisconsin. He married Beverly Morehouse on May 26, 1951 in Stillwater, MN, and from this union, four children were born. Howard was drafted into the Army in 1951 and joined the Army Airborne as a paratrooper. He served in Korea for two years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7232 of Eau Claire.
Howard is survived by his children, Linda (Norman) Wik, Gary Johnson, and Ronald (Holly) Johnson of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Bradley (Danielle) Wik, Amber (Michael) Mitra, and Carly Woodford; five great-grandchildren, Jennah, Dallas, and Austin Wik and Ethan and Eli Mitra; sisters, Bernadette Bellows and Grace Daniels; brother, Dorvin (Luella) Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Johnson; daughter, Vickie Johnson; brothers, Harold, Dean, and Donald; and sisters, Gabriella and Gwen.
Funeral services will be on Friday, June 23, 2017 at noon at Smith Funeral Chapel with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the services at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the American Legion Post 53.
