Obituary For Gail Yvonne Olson

Gail Yvonne (Ofsdahl) Olson died at her home Tuesday, January 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Gail was born in La Crosse, WI on June 5, 1948, to Robert J. and Mary Jane (Erickson) Ofsdahl and spent all but just a few years of her life in Ettrick; the community she cherished.

On November 24, 1979, she married Dean Olson and for more than 45 years the two of them were dedicated, loyal, and true to their marriage vows. Gail’s entire life was devoted to the care of others and putting them first, whether it be her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, church, the many children she babysat for, or friends. So many have been fed and touched by her delicious cooking, love and concern. Happy and content with the simple things in life, she valued honesty and was the glue holding everyone together. Gail will be terribly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Gail is survived by her husband, Dean; daughters, Mary (Jason Braund) and Heidi (Dana Stoner); son, Eric (Natasha) Olson; grandchildren, Caleb Mack, Elle Mack, Walker Stoner, Warren Stoner, Kylan Olson, and Lilah Olson; sisters, Mary Renee (Bob) Schulz and Greta (Greg) Rice; brothers, Robert M. (Kathy) Ofsdahl and Greg Ofsdahl; sisters-in-law, Audrey Conant (Jerry Twinde) and Debbie Olson; brother-in-law, Jim (Jackie) Olson; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Robb Mack; grandson, Lucas Mack; father-in-law, Ken Olson; and mother-in-law, Charlotte Olson.

Funeral services will be held at “her church” Living Hope Lutheran Church in Ettrick, Wisconsin on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am up until time of service.

The family is truly grateful for the outpouring of love and friendship and requests memorials be directed to the Living Hope Lutheran Church flooring fund in lieu of flowers.

I will always remember growing up with you Gail in Ettrick. You lit up a room with your infectious, laugh and smile. Since we were 12, we both used to babysit and on weekends sometimes I would call you or you would call me at my place of babysitting and we would talk from one to two in the morning. I feel so fortunate that I was able to see you and visit with you this last June in Ettrick at the golf course, along with some of our other wonderful classmate friends. What precious fond memories I will always have of you. Now you live in my heart and soul. Your dad and my dad were first cousins so I will look towards the sky and smile cousins forever.🥰 Paula (Hogden) Gill

My sincere condolences Dean. So many good moments at the golf course. She was a special lady. Often helped me with questions about the VA. My heart goes out to the whole family!
