Larry Lavois Rene, 72, of Fall Creek passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Fall Creek.

Larry was born on July 30, 1952, to Arne and Elaine (Gifford) Rene in Mondovi, Wisconsin.

Larry, known as “Herman” to everyone, he was loved by many, and was known for helping anyone with anything at any time, as well as for his grilled chicken and energy for fun and laughter. He enjoyed shopping for deals, wheelin and dealin. Herman had a love for our country and was a member of the Brackett Legion and enjoyed partaking in their events. He had a big heart and gave great teddy bear hugs. He had a special relationship with his brother Woody, and they shared many morning coffees and conversations. I will miss my surprise morning breakfast with my dad at the truck stop and funny stories.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Denise Rene-Kirchoff (Eddie Turner) of Owen, Wisconsin; granddaughters, Brittany Steig (Isaiah Steig) of Rochester, MN and Caitlyn Kirchoff of La Crosse, WI; brother, Woody and Sue Rene of Fall Creek; sister, Betty and Dan Thompson of Superior, WI; Kathleen Ching of Honolulu; brother, Duane Rene; half-sister, Diana Carsten; half-sister, Jennifer Corbin; nephew, Scott and Shawna Rene; great nieces and nephew, Aurora Becker (Chase Becker), Megan Rene and Travis Sand, Andrew Rene; close friend, Randy Henning; and many other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Arne Rene and Elaine Rene; niece, Rhonda Poirier; great nephew, Alex Albrecht; brother-in-law, Steve Ching; half-brother, Rusty Merrick; special uncle, Roy Rene; and longtime friend Rick Henning

A memorial service will be Friday, December 13, 2024, at 12:00 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fall Creek. A visitation will be from 10:00 am to the time of service at the church on Friday. Friends and family may leave online condolences at www.smithfuneralec.com.
