Obituary For LaVonne Elaine Turk

In Loving Memory of LaVonne Elaine “Pinky” Turk

LaVonne Elaine “Pinky” Turk, 82, born April 27, 1942, passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on March 10, 2026, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.

LaVonne was married for 63 years to Roger, the love of her life. She is survived by her five children: Robin Tainter; Rodney (Lynn) Turk; Ronnette (Matt) Nelson; Rochelle (Rick) Back; and Roxann (Scott) Crotty; her brothers LaRoy (Elizabeth) Oium and LaGene Oium; her sister LaRayne (Steve) Gospodar; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving extended family. She was especially proud to be Grandma to over 60 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Turk; her parents, Henry and Lillian Oium; her in-laws, Doris and Elmer Turk; her son-in-law, Bryan Tainter; and several brothers and sisters, whose memories will be cherished.

LaVonne lived a life full of faith, family, and love. She worked as a bank clerk, service clerk, and a talented seamstress, creating beautiful beadwork and bridal wear, but her proudest role was being a mom and grandma, leaving a legacy of love and devotion that will continue for generations. She was called “Mom” by many because of the warmth, wisdom, and nurturing heart she shared with everyone.

LaVonne loved sewing, gardening, crocheting, watching the Brewers, serving at church, playing cards, and cheering on her children and grandchildren. She also had a deep love for animals—especially birds. You could often find her and Roger driving around the property on their side-by-side, dropping corn for the birds along the trail. Of course, Pinky made a feathery friend who would come out to greet her and chase the side-by-side down the trail after them.

Known as “Grandma Pinky,” she treasured her 60 grandchildren, with walls and refrigerator covered in their photos. Holidays were filled with traditions and laughter, where her playful mischief created lifelong memories. She was a great listener, full of wisdom and encouragement, offering guidance and support to all who knew her.

The world will be a little quieter without her laughter, hugs, and playful spirit—but the love, faith, and encouragement she shared will echo in her family forever.

Special thanks to all the staff at Heritage Memory Care for the loving support and kindness they gave LaVonne and her family while she was a resident in their care.

A funeral service for LaVonne will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church (London Rd, Eau Claire) at 11:00 am. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the funeral service at Concordia.
