Obituary For Lawrence Matthew Lonetree-Burgess

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Lawrence Matthew Lonetree-Burgess, age 21, who tragically left us on April 4, 2025. Lawrence had a mischievous smirk that could light up any room, and his infectious laugh and quick wit brought joy to everyone he encountered. Above all, he had an immense love for his family and friends, always putting others first, even when facing his own struggles.

His passion for cooking was one of the many ways he expressed his love, often spending hours in the kitchen creating delicious meals that brought people together and used all the dishes in the process. Lawrence’s cooking was more than just a talent; it was a gift he shared with those he loved, and his meals will always be remembered as a symbol of his care, talent, and generosity. Throughout his life, Lawrence was known for his generous heart, his amazing cooking skills, and his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones.

His passing leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled, but the love, laughter, food, and memories he gave us will continue to shape our lives forever. Lawrence’s kindness, warmth, and genuine soul will never be forgotten, and we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.

Born on July 25, 2003, Lawrence was the beloved son (Baby Boy) of Hera (Dakota) Lonetree-Rindahl and Robert (Jessica) Burgess. He was a loving brother, Tega (Uncle), nephew, and friend, and his family was his greatest source of pride.

Lawrence is survived by his parents, Hera (Dakota) Lonetree-Rindahl and Robert (Jessica) Burgess; his siblings, Coreen (Nephew Harrison) Rindahl, Marshall (Kassidy) Lonetree-Burgess, Cedela and Dahlia Lonetree-Rindahl, Aurora Burgess, Ayden, Miinan, and Everett White, Kingston and Deslyn Lonetree, Aiyana and Ruby Johnson; as well as his maternal grandparents, Choka and Gaga, Dale and Cynthia Lonetree; paternal grandparents, Peter and Nancy Burgess; and paternal great grandparents Robert and Joan Hoth.

He is also survived by his aunts, Brandy (Odawa) White, April (Shane) Lonetree, and Asia Lonetree, and his uncle, Joseph Burgess. Lawrence will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 7th, at 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM, both will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel. A meal will be provided after the service to celebrate Lawrence’s life and share stories of his time with us. Lawrence’s life was far too short, but he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and deep bonds that will never be forgotten. His family is comforted by the thought that he is now at peace, and they are grateful for the time they shared with him.

I never had the pleasure of getting to know Lawrence well, but I do know he was like any other. He had a childhood, good experiences, bad experiences, friends, family, loved ones, unique memories, passions, sorrow, joyfulness, regret, shame, likes, dislikes, love, a future. Lawrence was not perfect, he was human, just like you and I, he had a good heart, and I hope that he's at peace wherever he is. I may not have gotten to know him as well as i've wanted to, but I still cared about him, as my friend. I could tell before he passed that the weight of the world was pushing hard, I keep telling myself I should've done more, I should've noticed more. We should all take this opportunity to learn to appreciate the ones you care about each and every day, because in an instant they could be gone. My heart goes out to Lawrence's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Lawrence, I hope to see you again some day. -James Purnell

Lawrence was great friend and a very hard worker. He showed me how much he wanted a job and proved to me that he could keep doing it. He would express how much he enjoyed it here and how much he loved his family. He would never stop working and proving how hard he would work until the day was done. I never got to learn everything about him but he was an open person, as we all were with each other, he would talk about his corgi dog (kuto/kudo) and how much fun they would have together running around outside and playing with him. It hasn't been the same since hearing about him. He will be sincerely missed. Love ya buddy and hope to see you again someday. Everyone from the kitchen misses you wish they saw you again before everything. I was the last person from dooleys to speak and see you, late Monday night. Sincerely, Declan Dooley.

Sending lots of love and prayers your way, Lawrence was a nice kid. He loved cooking so much he even had his own kitchen knife at Dooleys.
