Marian Violet Lokken Solomakos, 97, of Eau Claire passed away August 28, 2024.

Marian was born August 8, 1927, in the town of Pleasant Valley, Eau Claire County, to Arthur and Ethel (Burnett) Lokken. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev Wickmond at the Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church. Marian attended Sands School and Eau Claire Senior High School where she graduated in 1946. After graduation she moved to Washington DC where she worked as a secretary in the Navy Department. She met and married Peter Solomakos in 1949, he was a career man in the Air Force. Marian and Peter traveled to London England, different places in the US, Puerto Rico, and finally ending up in Eau Claire. She worked as a civil service secretary while living in London and O’Fallon, IL. She was a Grey Lady with the Red Cross while living in Puerto Rico. Marian and Peter had three children: Linda, Randy, and James. She joined First Lutheran Church in 1975, was a member of the Altar Guild for many years. She also volunteered at the Community Table and volunteered at Luther Hospital for many years. Marian also worked at Northwest Home Care.

Marian is survived by her children, Linda, Randy, and James; seven grandchildren, Lisa Mills, Heather (Charles) Stultz, Aaron Solomakos, Samantha Solomakos, Tabatha Solomakos, Katie Solomakos, and Randy Jr. Solomakos; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Thorvald Lokken and Paul Lokken.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Erma Nelson; sisters-in-law, Karen and Mary Lokken.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at 11 am at Spirit Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Rest Haven Cemetery. Donations in honor of Marian could be made to Spirit Lutheran Church Foundation or the VFW.
