Obituary For Nancy Marie Stocks

Nancy Stocks, 88, of Eau Claire passed away April 18, 2025, peacefully at home. Nancy Marie was born on April 8, 1937, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Sherwood and Irene Stolp. She graduated from Regis High School in 1955. Nancy was a gifted people person and home-maker. She loved working at the bank and particularly enjoyed the relationships she forged there. Nancy worked there until her retirement. Nancy enjoyed golfing, admiring the wildlife that visited her garden, playing cards, and assisting with estate sales. Nothing was more important to Nancy than spending time with her family and friends.

Nancy was an active member of St. Olaf Catholic Church; her faith in Christ was reflected in all the love and kindness she showed to others. At the time of her death, Nancy had Alzheimer’s but continued to live in her home under the caring supervision of her son. Pete ensured that life for their mother went on per usual. Nancy enjoyed daily walks and visited with all who passed by, including Jack the Magnificent, the neighborhood horse. Nancy’s smile and cheerful demeanor will never be forgotten.

Nancy is survived by her children, Mike Stocks, Pete Stocks, Donn Stocks (Shawn), Jim Stocks (Dawn), and Lynne Crowell (Don); grandchildren, Danielle, Kelsey, Erica, Colin, Kyle, Kevin, Alicia, and Tiffany, plus numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Nancy is further survived by her sister Marilyn Schoonover, and brother Don Stolp.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Sherwood and Irene Stolp; brother, Sherwood Stolp; sisters, Avis Bergh and Shirley Reitmeyer; grandsons; Christopher Crowell, and Dallas Stocks; and great grandson, Bryce York.

The family would like to thank all who have supported them and Nancy through the years. Special thanks to Nancy’s precious niece, Cheryl Schoonover, for her help and constant companionship, and sweet neighbor, Ellie Theisen, for bringing Nancy daily doses of joy. Also, Nancy’s dear friends, Mary Jo Smith and Jan Dole, for visiting often, and Mayo Hospice.

A committal service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire, at 11:00 am, officiated by Bobbi Jo Toy. Family and friends may leave condolences online at www.smithfuneralec.com.

    Although we did not come to Wisconsin often, Aunt Nancy was always a favorite with our family. Nancy was so sweet, funny ,kind, and happy.
