Obituary For Russell G. Ulberg

With a heavy heart we say goodbye to Russell G. Ulberg (68), Township of Brunswick, who passed away at home surrounded by loved ones, on December 25, 2023, after a courageous battle with liver cancer.

Russ was born August 24, 1955, to parents Clayton and Rose Ulberg. On April 14, 1973, Russ and Bonnie (Odegard) were married; in 2023, Russ and Bonnie celebrated 50 years of a very loving marriage. Russ proudly served his country for four years in the Air Force and two years as a reservist in Lubbock, Texas. Between 1973 to 1980, Russell and Bonnie started a family, having four children. After Russ’ commitment to the Air Force was completed, they resettled back in the Eau Claire area and purchased the home that his father built. Upon returning to Wisconsin, Russ went to work for Uniroyal for nearly 20 years until they closed, he attended CVTC and graduated from the truck driving program, Russ finished his work career at Overhead Door Co.

Russ found true enjoyment in spending time with family and friends, often including them in his hobbies such as camping, fishing, traveling, building and remodeling projects. Russ was known as a gifted woodworker and carpenter that enjoyed passing his knowledge down to his children and grandchildren.

Russ is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his kids, Craig (Laurie), Keith (Crystal), Jenny, and Ken (Julie); 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Additionally in February 2023, Russ opened his home and heart to a Mini Aussiedoodle named Jake. He was preceded in death by his parents and a special grandma (Anna Harms).

Services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 12p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Patrick Patterson officiating. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Lunch to be served at Trinity after the funeral service. Following the luncheon, there will be a burial will be at Brunswick Cemetery, town of Brunswick, where there will be an Air Force Honor Guard.

    we had fun. remembering tobagganing,hunting,camping with aunts and uncles,mom and Grandma Harms how hard they both worked to keep families together. Now Russell and Bonnie did the same. Bonnie ty for everything.

    I couldn't have asked for a better older brother. He was always there for me, especially when I was in my late teens and early twenties. I'll always be grateful for the loving support he gave me when I needed it most. I couldn't ask for a better big brother.
