Robin A. Hamlin
September 10, 1951 – April 29, 2018
Born in Roswell, NM
Resided in Eau Claire, WI
Robin Alfred Hamlin peacefully passed away in the early morning of April 29th, at home, surrounded by his immediate family. He was a dedicated husband, father, brother and friend to many. Robin was always willing to help others before helping himself. His family has been both blessed and grateful to have had him in their lives and share in his journeys.
Robin served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1972 and continued to serve his country at home earning several decorations and commendations.
Robin loved his dog Sadie and grand-puppies Rosie and Reggie and has always been a lover of animals. Hours were spent in letting his dogs do whatever they wanted to do. Robin’s love of animals did not stop with dogs; feeding the squirrels and birds was a daily pleasure for him.
Robin spent many years in the home inspection, and home remodeling business and was a proficient wood worker. Robin built his own woodshop and took great pleasure in making items as small as stools and as large as sail boats.
Thank you Bird for everything you did for us and helping us to be strong, confident, and self sufficient in many ways. Devoted husband to Jae Hamlin, loving father to Shelby Elizabeth (Tyler) Bowe, loyal brother of sisters Colleen (Ryan) Hamlin Gilbert, Heidi Hamlin Davidson, brother to William Chase Hamlin, Jr., the late Gale Dee Caudle, the late Eric Phelps Hamlin, and the late parents William and Lucille (Kraff) Hamlin, the fun-loving brother in law of Jim (Tamra) Sahagian, Jean (Adrian) Marsden and son in law to John and Joy Sahagian.
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Hamlin family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Home Hospice Unit and the Albert J. & Judith A. Dunlap Cancer Center for the loving care and treatment during Robin’s last months and last days.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Smith Funeral Chapel at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until time of service. A small luncheon will be held following the service at the family home.

Jae and family,
I am sorry to hear about your loss. I did not have the opportunity to get to know Robin personally. From Jae’s stories I can tell that he loved you all very much. Some of his last gifts were making sure you had what you needed to be safe and strong in his absence. I hope in time that his memory will bring smiles to your heart. Best wishes and many condolences.
I am so sorry to hear about Robin. I will pray for you and your family. I hope that your memories will help you through this difficult time. Love you, Jae
We were surprised to learn of Robin’s passing. He was a Life Member of Chippewa VFW Post 1038 for 13 years. Robin was also our Post Adjutant in 2014. He was a loyal member who helped us with special events and projects such as building the Post garage. He was in charge of that project and I don’t think he even looked at the blue prints. Everything turned our great and it’s still standing! Thanks Robin!
The Post has Robin listed on our web site “Taps” page at http://vfw1038.org/di/vfw/v2/default.asp?pid=7825 and we held a short memorial service for him at our last meeting. I have a nice photo of him after we was installed as Adjutant in 2014 if anyone wants it please e-mail me.
May God keep you forever.
Jae (my college buddy), Shelby, Tyler and Family. The loss of Robin is saddening. He is our close friend and in our thoughts daily. Robin was devoted to and blessed by the love of his family.
I met Robin in the army and depended on him every day and night for a year. We’ve been best of friends for 50 years. It would be hard to find a better friend. He was honest, trustworthy and loyal. For the record, of which he never spoke, Robin was in four two track (6-8 men), 4th platoon, Alpha Company, 4th/23rd infantry battalion of the 25th infantry division, Cu Chi, Vietnam. He resided in Tay Ninh Province (1970) at several fire support bases around Nui Ba Den Mountain. He has many battle stars to his name.
We are so sorry to hear about your loss. Thinking about you all so much and send our deepest sympathy. Robin was such a wonderful, caring and kind man. The huge love he had for his family was always easy to see. We are blessed by knowing him and your family. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.
I love you Aunt Jae!
I was always priviledged to getting to know you & Uncle Robin through the stories my mom passed onto us growing up! I am sad to hear of his passing, but blessed in knowing how a lot of his characteristics were passed down to me! ? Everybody’s consistently in my thoughts and I am wishing nothing less than love and peace, each passing day. ?
I love you Uncle Robin, may you R.I.P. ✨
