Rose Marie (Lesenyie) Flanders, 98 of Eau Claire passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 with her children at her side.
Rose was born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and lived there until 1926, when they moved to Gary, Indiana. She met and married Melvin Flanders on January 21, 1939. They moved around before settling in Eau Claire in 1967.
Rose enjoyed gardening, canning, and doing embroidery work for her grandkids. She loved reading and spending time with her family and friends. One of her great pleasures was traveling with her daughters to visit family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children, Carol Blades, Virginia Richardson, Marshall (Carolyn) Flanders, Irene (Jerald) Nickels, Melvin (Debra) Flanders, and Mary (Ricky) Thorson; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Flanders; her parents; six brothers; three sisters; one son-in-law, Billy Blades; and one granddaughter, Amy Rose Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel with Father Donald Meuret officiating. Visitation will start at noon until the time of service at the funeral home on Sunday. Burial will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Rest Haven Cemetery
