Sally Mae Baker passed away at BeeHive Memory Care in Eau Claire on July 20, 2023 at the age of 83 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Sally was born on April 26, 1940 to Frederick and Elizabeth (Butler) Schultz. She grew up in Menomonie, WI. She attended Menomonie High School and was a cheerleader, drum majorette, and trumpet player in the high school band.

Sally met Robert (Bob) Baker at a dance and eventually they were married on August 8, 1959 They were married for 60 years before Bob’s passing on August 24, 2019.

Sally worked as a bank teller for many years retiring in 2005 with M & I Bank which eventually became part of BMO Harris. She made many friends with customers and co-workers. She also had many long-time friends through the antique car clubs that Bob and her were members of for so many years as well as neighbors from the old neighborhood on Balcom St and their home in Hallie.

She enjoyed playing cards, road trips with her sisters, taking walks, fishing especially with her grandkids, and spending time with family and friends. She also loved watching Wheel of Fortune and relaxing on her couch.

Sally was very supportive of her four sons and their many activities throughout the years and would always be there for them. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mom, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt. She will be sadly missed.

Sally is survived by her sons, Robert Jr., Michael, Patrick (Stephanie), and David (Joni), her grandchildren Logan, Cameron, Brianna, Shannon, and Paris.

She is further survived by her loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, and her siblings—brothers Richard, Buster (Connie), and Butch (Norma) Schultz and her sisters Betty (Jerry) Anderson, Marvel Mago, and Thamer Herrill.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Visiting Angels especially Sue, St. Croix Hospice, and BeeHive Memory Care.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Lutheran Scandinavian Cemetery in Eau Claire. Condolences may be left online below.

  1. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Baker family at the loss of dear Sally. We loved meeting with Bob and Sally years ago and I talked with Sally many times on the phone as we shared our love of our grandson, Logan.

  4. Was saddened to hear of Sally’s death. Sally and I went to high school together and had many fun times together with our friends. My sympathy to her family. 🙏♥️
