Obituary For Joshua Vang
Joshua Vang, born September 9th, 1988, passed away on March 8th 2026, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him most. In his time here, Josh filled countless lives with joy, laughter, and meaning that will never fade.
Joshua attended Halmstad Elementary and later Chippewa Falls Middle School and High School showing a natural talent for learning and studies; being recognized as one of the top students in mathematics and also receiving an award for his outstanding attitude and effort—an achievement that reflected not only his intelligence, but also his character.
Outside of school Joshua spent much of his childhood fishing, hunting, and appreciating the world around him. As his passion for nature grew with him into adulthood, it became a meaningful way to connect with the people he loved most, especially his young nieces and nephews. Joshua took pride in being able to mentor and teach them, always showing eagerness whenever someone shared interest.
Joshua had a vibrant imagination and a love for immersive hobbies. Growing up, he could often be found lost in the worlds of his favorite animes like Rurouni Kenshin, building model Gundams to hang from the ceiling or gaming at his PC, where he would eventually meet and build lasting friendships that would remain close to him throughout his entire life.
But the passion Josh dedicated his life to the most was his enthusiasm for cars. He had a strong love for the JDM car community, documenting his journey and automotive adventures online. His appreciation for craftsmanship and performance was reflected in the time and work he put into doing custom builds. The car he showcased proudly was his 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback EK, a bright red, attention-grabbing car that stood out wherever he went. Yet in delightful contrast Joshua himself was a gentle and quiet soul, humble in nature and always thoughtful toward those around him.
Although his years were fewer than we wished, his memory and legacy will be deeply cherished and remain a lasting part of our hearts. Josh is lovingly survived by his parents, Xiong and Mai Neng Vang; his brothers, Philip (PaVoua), Meng (See), and Mason (Malaya.); sisters, Anne (Travis), Emily (Johnson), Kim (Ling), Serena, and Tina (Dillon). Josh is also remembered by his many nieces and nephews, who brought him great joy and whom he loved dearly.
Remembrance and memorial services will be held 7am to midnight Sunday April 12 at Smith Funeral Chapel in Eau Claire.
