JJ Bertrang, 36 of Eau Claire passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 11, 2016.

JJ was born on January 4, 1980 to Norman and Barbara Bertrang.  He was originally named Norman Howard Bertrang Jr. and his name was later changed to JJ Bertrang.

JJ enjoyed watching the Packers and Badgers games on tv as well as attending Packer games.  He also enjoyed watching boxing.  JJ enjoyed spending time with his dog, Shelby until her death in 2015.  He loved his music and enjoyed listening to various types of music.  He enjoyed spending time with his nephews, Cody and Caleb. JJ was in the Army and had a deep love for his country.  His favorite movies were American History X and American Sniper.  JJ worked many different jobs during his life and his last job was truck driving for Kuehl Trucking. JJ’s life was drastically changed on January 28, 2013 as a result of an auto accident.  JJ suffered from a traumatic brain injury leaving him permanently disabled with many medical issues that finally resulted in his death.

JJ is survived by his mother, Barbara and Stepfather, Donald Knutson; sister, Brenda Bertrang (Michael Koger); nephews, Cody Buenger and Caleb Bertrang; niece, Ashley Buenger; brother, Rick Walker; niece, Kate Walker; half-sisters, Tamara Walker, Laurie Walker-Cain (Mike) and Cindy Walker; aunts, Sharon Bertrang, Donna Mooney, and Gloria Smith; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

JJ was preceded in death by his sister, Debra K. Bertrang; half- brother, Dan Walker; father, Norman Howard Bertrang; and his beloved dog, Shelby.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Lunderville officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm up to the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.  Private family burial will take place at a later date.

  2. Brenda and family we are deeply saddened to hear about JJ as he made such great strides after his accident. He was gtruly a strong soul to defy the odds as long as he did. Prayers go out to you and your family in this time of sadness.
