Josephine G. Lortz, 85 of Eau Claire died on Monday, June 27, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire.
Josephine was born on September 13, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Frances (Fontowicz) Janek. Josephine enjoyed growing up in Chicago. She was fond of driving and loved nothing more than to be able to drive her car. She drove a school bus for around 17 years. She loved to dance and do the polka. Josephine took pleasure in taking frequent trips to the casino and Vegas. Josephine played poker on her tablet at home and enjoyed word find puzzles.
Josephine is survived by her children, Michael Hiera, Susan (Gregg) Hancock, Tony (Nancy) Hiera, Frances Hiera, and Barbara (Kenneth) Stefanovich and Katherine Hiera; daughter-in-law, Susan Hiera; 18 grandchildren, Suzanne, Christopher, Jennifer, Mikie, Aundrea, Matt, Nat, Mariah, Adam, Keri, Kyle, Jason, Anthony, Jenna, Corrin, Jacob, and Desiree; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters; and 1 brother.
Josephine is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lortz; and son, Chester Hiera.
“I hope you’re dancing in the sky. I hope you’re singing in the angel’s choir. I hope the angel’s know what they have. I’ll bet it’s so nice up in heaven since you arrived.”
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. as well as on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel. Burial will take place on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
