Austin Lavon Johnson Jr. 18, of Chippewa Falls passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023. Austin was born to Dominique Sherri Battle. He is the fourth oldest of ten children, six girls and four boys.

He was a very loving and caring child. He was outgoing and very kind to others. He loved his family and friends and was protective of them. Asa was not athletic at all. He was tall and handsome but boy, was he funny. He would entertain us all with his jokes and imitations of others. Asa also loved music, movies, fashion, cooking, and watching social media videos with family. He enjoyed taking care of his pet cat Garfield and dog Virgil.

Asa loved his mother, and he enjoyed helping her. Whether it was rubbing her feet for snacks or helping clean around the house. He often would say to his Mama, whose house is going to be the cleanest out of your kids? And she would tell him, his house will be. He would be so proud and then his sisters would tease him. Asa had it hard at times growing up with sisters. But that was the same thing that made him the loving and caring person he was. Being the oldest boy of a single mother made him take on the responsibility of the man of the house. He tried his best to help and step up to the plate when needed. He will forever hold a special place in all our hearts. He had a special relationship with all of us.

I watched him challenge Onna for position of big brother whether they were playing basketball or comparing who was the freshest. Or just entertaining the family. He was protective of Bird and concerned with what she did. Watching him and Janique play, laugh, joke, fight, then repeat and do it all again.

Seeing him be nice to Pha’eva because she has something he wants. Then him getting it. And they go right back to fighting. Him being a big brother to Remi and supporting everything she wants to do. Whether it was watching her videos or him being a part of them. Him being a big brother to King, Dominick, Jayshawn, and Journey. Whether he was cutting their hair, taking them trick or treating, putting together their toys for them, or taking time out of his day to take them places.

He loved his Grandma Saadia. She was the reason he loved to paint, draw, hang pictures up, and cut hair. The first haircut Austin gave was to his Grandma Saadia. He loved and looked up to both his uncles, Bucky and DV. He respected and admired them. They were big pieces of Asa’s life. He kept a piece of them with him each day which made him the brave young man he was. Asa loved all his friends and family as wide as the sky. And what he didn’t like, he just didn’t like. Asa was never my step-son, he was my son. I loved and treated him as my son. I smiled and laughed every time I saw him. He will truly be missed and never forgotten. Only thing stepson about him, he was a step-up from the rest.

Austin is survived by his mother, Dominique; father, John; honorable step-father, Kirkland; sisters, Jadionnna, Delajha, Janique, Audia, Arianna, Myshanna, Nyenye, Remi, Pha’eva, and Journey; brothers, Austin, Willie, Jayshawn, King, and Dominick; uncles, Johann, Delvonn, Jeremy, and Markell; aunt, Jasmine; grandmothers, Saadia and Joy; grandfather, Mark; plenty of loving cousins; a host of friends and family; his dog Virgil who was his son; special friend, Emma, one of the loves of his life; his mudd brothers, Keshon and Kalob.
