Carolyn A. Powers, 102, of Eau Claire, passed away Sunday, March 20th, 2016, at Care Partners – Country Terrace Assisted Living in Eau Claire.

Carolyn was born on August 21st, 1913 in Eau Claire to Arthur & Bessie (Fisk) Lind. She married John E. Powers on September 23rd, 1933 at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI. They made their home on the Chippewa River for almost 40 years before Carolyn moved into the Eastridge Estates in Altoona, where she lived as an “original resident” for over 10 years. For the past 2 years though you could find Carolyn at Care Partners Country Terrace Assisted Living in Eau Claire.

Carolyn was involved in many things over her lifetime. She was a member of a women’s golf league and was very involved with church. Carolyn worked at the Eau Claire Bedding Company for many years before finding her calling as the librarian for North High School in Eau Claire, a job which she was very passionate about and would eventually retire from.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Dr. James (Mary) Powers; Grandchildren, John (Cindy) Powers, Jean (Mike) Machi, Michael (Angie) Powers, and Steven (Amy) Powers; and Great-Grandchildren, Michael, Nicole, Sara, Dana, Spencer, Chandler, and Mason.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and siblings Harold, Art, and Violet.

The family would like to thank ContinuUs of Eau Claire, Mayo Clinic Home Health & Hospice and Care Partners Assisted Living for their wonderful and compassionate care shown to Carolyn.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 24th, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel, Eau Claire with a visitation prior to services beginning at 12:00 pm. Pastor David Irgens will be officiating. Burial will follow services at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.
