John “Jack” M. Hoover, 78 of Eau Claire passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital on Thursday, September 3, 2015 after a hard fought battle with lung cancer.

Jack was born on May 15, 1937 to John and Thelma (Simonson) Hoover in Rock Falls, Wisconsin. Jack married the former Kathleen Wynn Seeley on October 10, 1980 in Eau Claire. They resided on John Street at the London Aire Mobile Estates for 33 years, where they had many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Jack worked for many years in the construction and hot mix industry, and retired in 2002 from the E.C. County Highway Department after 23 years of service. He was a past member of the Fort Old Abes Muzzle Loaders Club, the Chippewa Valley Marine Club, and a current member of the American Legion Post 550 in Brackett, Wisconsin. He hunted for over 40 years in Birchwood, Wisconsin, and loved to ride his ATV on the many beautiful trails along the Washburn County forest.

Jack is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, James of Fall Creek; daughter, Mary Jean (Frank) Mommsen; granddaughter, Jessica (Nick) Bohnsack; great-grandson, Vann; great-granddaughter, Ashlynn, all of Sheridan, WY; grandson, Rob (Jenny) Mommsen; great-granddaughter, Abbey of Glendale, AZ; three sisters, Nancy Hoover (Kathy Geissler), Anne (Tom) Ohrt, and Cynthia (Dan) Bauer; one brother, Daniel (Karen) Hoover; and many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jane Cronkhite; and nephew, Carl Adams.

Burial will be at Brunswick Cemetery at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 17, 2015 with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. American Legion Post 550 will be performing military honors. Lunch will be immediately following at the Brunswick Town Hall.
