John R. Molitor, 65, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away on July 14, 2018 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersberg, Florida with his loving sister by his side.

John was born to Robert and Dolores (Krogman) Molitor on January 16, 1953 in Eau Claire. He was born and raised in Eau Claire. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1971. In the late 70s and early 80s John owned and operated a few businesses in Eau Claire. He owned and operated The Stable, Oar House, and the Old Home Tavern on Water Street. He also owned The Tannary, Pizza Factory and a T-shirt printing business. In the mid-80s, John followed his dream and moved to Florida. John owned and operated a few businesses in St. Petersberg and Gulf Port Florida. He owned and operated two bars. One of the bars was called the Oar House. He also owned a catering business and a diner, which he named after his mother.

John’s passion was cooking. He would cater many benefits and would donate the food, refreshments, and the entertainment. John adopted five rescue dogs. He truly loved them so much. He especially enjoyed the many times his parents and sister came for a visit. They would join him in participating in a parade or spend quality time cooking with him. John had a big heart and was very generous to all who knew him. He had met and stayed friends with many people here in Eau Claire and in Florida. If you knew John, you would have a friend for life. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his sister Jane Reiter of Eau Claire; nephew Andy (Kari) Reiter of Eau Claire and his children: Brittany Reiter of Plum City and AJ Reiter of Minnesota; niece Tammy (Jason) Schlottman and her son Kyle Schlottman of Menomonie, WI; and sister-in-law Sally Molitor. He is further survived by other nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dolores Molitor, brother Michael Molitor, and sister Deborah (David) Westerberg.

A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Visitation will be held for an hour before service.   1. I was in John’s class at Memorial, and we graduated together. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

  2. Bob and I have known John since the late 80’s and had several real estate dealings with him. John and the Lowman brothers hosted my 50th birthday party at Sharpai’s which they owned. John will be remembered for the wonderful parties he gave, especially
    the wonderful decorations and food! He was a very generous, caring person who will be
    missed by many! Unfortunately, poor health intervened too soon for this man.
