Leona M. Winter, 98, of Eau Claire passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Dove Healthcare – West.

Leona was born on March 12, 1919 to Charles and Mary (Jacot) McMahan in Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin. She enjoyed cooking and canning, endlessly trying new recipes. She participated in and encouraged others to pitch in with several civic groups. Farm Bureau, cemetery board, Royal Order of the Moose, United Methodist Women, election day volunteers, and probably many more that we have forgot. She enjoyed bringing a smile to everyone by wearing ANY crazy costume; Brett Favre green and gold, fuzzy hair clown, green everything for St. Patrick’s Day, orange and black for Halloween, and a Mrs. Clause getup as well.

Leona is survived by her children Barbara (Martin) Wallace, Herbert (Kathy) Winter, Donald (Brenda) Winter, Clinton (Julie) Winter, 17 grandchildren, and many great- and great-great grandchildren.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, John Winter; sisters Myrtle (Loren) Parkhurst, Evaline (Allen) Parkhurst, Charlotte (Frank) Winter; and brother Kenneth (Eleanor) McMahan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Smith Funeral Chapel.  A visitation will take place two hours prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.  Burial will follow the services at Brunswick Cemetery.
