Lewis Sackett

Lewis L. Sackett, 71 of Eau Claire passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at his residence. He was diagnosed with cancer just one month ago.

Lewie was born on April 19, 1944 to Lloyd and Lila (Asplin) Sackett in Neilsville, Wisconsin. He grew up in Wisconsin and South Dakota. He married Pat after a two day engagement and was about to celebrate 50 years of marriage in July. He served 3 years in the US Army, two of which were spent in Italy; spent 6 years in appliance repair; and started Sackett Construction in 1975-work that he never considered a job. Lewie and Pat settled in rural Fall Creek where they raised their family. He will be remembered as a hard-working, loyal and loving man who set the bar high with his example of how to live life and, in the last month, how to leave life. He will be missed greatly.

Lewie is survived by his wife, Patricia (Peterson) Sackett of Eau Claire; five children, AnnMarie (Bruce) Anderson of Fall Creek, Wade (Robin) Sackett of Menomonie, Molly (Steve) Aaron of Farmington, MN, Ivan (Katie) Sackett of Fall Creek, and Susan (Steve) Craig of Lakeville, MN; 21 dearly loved grandchildren; his first great-granddaughter due in September ; sisters, Lila (Charles) Jones of Phoenix, AZ, Susan (David) Scholze of Humbird, Donna Sackett of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Laurel (Wade) Meek of Black River Falls; brothers, Jim (Jodi) of Greer, SC, Jesse (Pat) of Rockland, Bruce (Lori) of Globe, AZ, Vern (Ann) of Arena, and Mark of Mesa, AZ.

Lewie is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lila Sackett and brother, Harold (Sonny) Sackett as well as several loved extended family members.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel.
