Marie Nelson DeBoer passed away on April 9 at age 94 at Care Partners in Eau Claire.

She was born on March 24, 1922 to Hans and Minnie Andresen. She married Joseph Nelson in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1968. She married Evert DeBoer in 1976 in Arizona. He preceded her in death in 2001. They spent many winters together in Arizona.

Marie worked at various places in the Eau Claire area, including 11 years at Ben Franklin. She loved camping, fishing, dancing, and shopping. She also loved feeding and watching the birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and taking care of her flowers indoors and out.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Hazel (Richard) Nichols and Joan (Richard) Sokup; Grandchildren, Bruce (Jen) Smith, Mark Sokup, and Kim (Steve) Haas; great-grandchildren, Dustin and Charles Smith, Kayla Sokup, Shawn and Cody Gillette; one great-great granddaughter, Aaliyah; Sisters, Rose Hulbert, Agnes (Lee) Nelson and Anna Rivers; and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Douglas; sisters, Christina Andresen and Betty Wagner; brothers, Hans, John, Louie, Frank, and brother, Martin in infancy.

The family would like to thank everyone at Mayo Home Health and Hospice, Care Partners for their wonderful care. The family would also like to thank Gordy, for his wonderful chiropractic care you gave our Mom. We love you, Mom.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Margaret DeMaris officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am up until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery.   1. Joan and family, Dave and I send our condolences in the loss of your Mother and Grandmother. Having only met her twice I immediately was drawn to her. She was such a gentle, warm and caring lady. RIP Marie. It’s not hard to put together that you are her daughter, Joan. Like Mother, like Daughter. You all are in our prayers and we’ll be thinking about you in the days ahead.
