Rueben Arthur Skaaland, 91, of Eau Claire passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Dove Healthcare – West. Reuben was born to Robert and Alida (Role) Skaaland on February 12, 1931, in Jefferson, WI. He grew up on a farm in Vernon County. In 1951, Reuben enlisted in the United States Navy serving until 1955. After his service, Reuben spent over 40 years working with Phoenix Steel and PDM Bridge in Eau Claire. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping, tending to his garden. He was a craftsman and enjoyed woodworking. He enjoyed spending time with all his family and friends.

Reuben is survived by his children, Jeff Skaaland (Jody Przybylski) of Eau Claire, Mike (Liz) Skaaland of Eau Claire, Meloney and Letricia of Florida; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Reuben is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Skaaland; his parents, Robert and Alida Skaaland; brothers, Bobby, and Jimmy; sisters, Arlene and Evenelle.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left below.

  1. I am so sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I worked with him at Phoenix Steel, until he retired Your father had told me this was a good place to work for, so I stayed and will be retiring soon myself.
    Remember the good times, it will help ease the pain of the loss.

    After getting to know him better I found out that he used to ride motorcycles with my uncle.

  6. Reuben was my mother’s big brother. She loved him greatly and so did we as a family. He left us with wonderful memories and was bigger than life to many of us. Am sending my sympathy and thanks to everyone who cared for him in his last few years and hopefully will get to thank you personally. His loss of memory was tragic.
